Code: ASC/21/0276 Care Act, Wellbeing Principle and Support Planning

This course is aimed at individuals that are responsible for undertaking assessments of need. It outlines the responsibilities of the Care Act, clarifying ‘proportionate and appropriate’ assessments. It considers the wellbeing domains and uses case studies to identify how eligibility can be applied. It defines strength-based assessments and their role in preventing and delaying care and support needs. The course explores ways to record measurable outcomes, ensuring that this is centred around and directed by the person.

Please note that there are two modules to this course which compliment each other. This is the second module and the first module is called Care Act, Wellbeing Principle and Eligibility. You will need to book on separately for the first course if you would like to attend both modules. You do not have to attend both modules.

It is becoming increasingly common for professions to be called to give evidence where an adult with care and support needs dies. This course will explore the purpose of an inquest and provide practical guidance on steps practitioners should take when drafting witness statements or preparing to give oral evidence. The course sets out the responsibilities of the coroner and explains the investigatory process of an inquest. There will be a clear focus on core social care values and a human rights approach.
