Event description
This is a 2 day course for social workers and others who are preparing to supervise service users who are detained under S37/41 Mental Health Act, and who will be subject to Social Supervision in the community under Conditional Discharge arrangements. It will also be relevant for experienced Social Supervisors who need refresher training.

The course is free for Wandsworth and Richmond LA staff, however, staff from other LAs will be charged £150 per place.
Training objectives

  • Update about the Role and and Responsibilities of the Social Supervisor

  • Update about the Role of the Ministry of Justice Mental Health Casework Section in relation to Social Supervision, and MHCS expectations of quarterly progress reports

  • Explore best practice regarding Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), Victim Liaison, Recall, MDT working and other issues

  • Reflect on the implications of homicides and other serious incidents involving Conditionally Discharged service users
